Cap de Creus Natural Park
Catalonia’s first marine and terrestrial natural park
Located at the northeastern tip of Catalonia, the Cap de Creus Natural Park was declared a protected area in 1998 to preserve its exceptional biodiversity and unique geology.
This area covers over 13,000 hectares of land and 3,000 hectares of sea, including the Cap de Creus peninsula and the surrounding waters.
The geological history of Cap de Creus dates back millions of years, with rock formations shaped by erosion and tectonic activity, giving rise to truly unique landscapes.
Human presence in the area is also ancient: since prehistoric times, with numerous archaeological remains such as dolmens and menhirs that highlight the historical significance of this territory.
For divers, Cap de Creus is much more than just a place to practise a sport — it’s a space for connecting with nature and committing to its conservation.
The diving community plays a key role here, promoting responsible and sustainable practices, and taking part in preservation initiatives that help protect the park’s beauty and biodiversity for future generations.
